Looking at some of the comments, Cyprus looks like its going to be very expensive this year. We have been 7 times in the past. Earlier this year we went to Spain, missed Cyprus so much decided that we just had to go back. We are going late September, but it is begining to look like its going to cost a bomb just for food and drinks. I am now thinking we should postpone and watch to see if Cyprus ever gets cheaper!!!! I feel sad that we may not be able to afford to go back to this beautiful island.

I%26#39;m afraid I can%26#39;t put your mind at rest Delilah because I haven%26#39;t yet had my holiday in Cyprus this year so I can%26#39;t comment personally on how much it differs in price from last year.
However, my parents were in Cyprus earlier this year (they visit every year) and they noticed an increase in the cost from previous years. I also think it is true to say that the majority of regular posters to the Forum have reported price hikes this year.
Now you are going to get comments from people who say that it is as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be and, to a point, I agree with them. If you are prepared to sniff out the local tavernas and the little bars off the beaten track then you will not spend as much as if you eat and drink in the main tourist areas. Having said that, I still don%26#39;t think that anyone is going to have a cheap holiday this year, no matter where they eat and drink.
As for watching to see if Cyprus ever gets cheaper - I don%26#39;t think it is Cyprus you need to be watching, it is the Euro and the Pound. As long as the Pound performs poorly against the Euro then all our Med holiday destinations are going to be expensive.

Deliah hi,
If you decide to go abroad this year, it doesn%26#39;t matter if you choose Spain, Italy or Cyprus. With the exchange rate for euro what it is, you will probably find things more expensive than last year.
As with most places, however, a little shopping around is always a good idea and with the number of tourists coming to Cyprus down, there are always special offers.
|||
Tourists have been on a downward trend for the past 8yrs and it will get worse next year,go now and enjoy just take 25% more money.
|||
If you can be bothered shop around. Unfortunately Cyprus will not get cheaper. Even if we adopted the Euro you would still see an increase in prices. Fuel, water, electricity and taxes are all due to rise again in Cyprus next year, these increases will eventually be passed on to the visitor.
Hey, the good news is the sun is shining and it%26#39;s bloody hot !!!!

thanks for your comments. I know you are all right about hunting out the cheaper places, and what one person finds expensive another thinks is cheap. We are just going to have to save even harder lol. I dont think we could do with out our fix!! We normally go to Limassol but are looking at Pennera (is that spelt right?). Only thing is we dont drive so all resturants etc have to be in walking distance.
|||
Loads of restaurants in Pernera so you wouldn%26#39;t need a car. Protaras is only a 20 minute walk either along the coastal path or main road.
|||
Yes its not so much the prices in cyprus but the euro weve just come back from majorca and for 2 beers and 1 cola we payed £10 and £3 for a cola in the airport going to paphos in sept so iam ready for the price hike in the way of eating in the stuidio a few times shame but we travel a lot so we have to keep the tab on it somewhare!!!!
|||
As Kath has said there plenty of restaurants in the Pernera area but not a lot in the way of shops. If you dont%26#39;t mind walking, or taking a taxi, and you prefer things more quiet, the main tourist area is not too far.

We%26#39;re of the same mind as you lui in as much as we are planning a few meals in the apartment this year. We have a full kitchen with all mod cons so there is no hardship in rustling up a bit of dinner and eating it on the patio before venturing out for a couple of scoops.
We want to make a few savings without making sacrifices so it seems to be the best of both worlds.
Like you, we have a few holidays a year and the more we spend on one holiday makes the chance of having another one that bit slimmer.
