I have heard that the water shortage in Cyprus has become even worse recently . Any news on this ?

I wouldn%26#39;t say it is worse but everyone has to be very careful including tourists although it is not affecting them they are here for a few weeks and then back to their lovely rain we locals have to endure the heat and water shortage for a long time yet, even when the rains do come it will not be enough to fill the resevoirs. Water has now started coming in from Greece but I am afraid it is not a long term solution. If you are coming on holiday please come and enjoy but be aware of the water situation.

The shortage certainly isn%26#39;t going to get any better for a long time but all I can say is that, although there are no guarantees that you won%26#39;t be affected, the Cypriot tourist industry are trying to ensure that hotels/apartments and the tourist industry generally do not suffer. Certainly at the end of May/beginning June, unless you had read about it on TripAdvisor, you would never have known there was a shortage in Protaras, sprinklers were still being used and pools still topped up although the local villages were and still are having daily water cuts. Water is certainly now being shipped in from Greece for distribution throughout the island.
Don%26#39;t worry about it - there is plenty of bottled water for drinking which you would use anyway, just try to conserve water as best you can for the benefit of the Cypriot residents once you have left share showers, avoid baths, basically respect the water.

Thanks for the info , i will certainly do my bit for the water shortage by drinking less water and more beer.
