I can confirm having just returned from Paphos on 28th June that we experienced NO water shortage problems at all.

Thanks for reporting Louise. Where did you stay?

Atlantica Golden Beach. Beautiful hotel, so friendly - was our fourth time at this hotel.

Many people have reported no water shortages when staying at hotels and I am sure this will be a great comfort to everyone else staying in hotels this summer.
I have heard that tankers have been delivering water to hotels so I can only assume that they are buying it in from somewhere (maybe peope with private wells are cashing in somewhere along the line). Privately owned apartment complexes are also buying water to keep their pools topped up.

I spoke to the manager of our hotel who said that there were no problems in the Atlantica Golden Beach - like you say it is more villas/apartments and people living in Cyprus that are affected. However I did meed someone who lived in Cyprus who said they also no water problems. Maybe just the luck of where you are.

To be honest no one can give a true picture of the water shortages in Cyprus and who is affected. It changes on a daily basis. Dependant on where you live or are staying you have to just go with the flow. Some areas of Paphos have water on alternate days some do not, and yet others have it full time.
In the villages you may have some or may not, our village had rationing for five weeks now we are back on full time. My office in Limassol has water on aternate days, but the hotels (some are) not affected.
In all it is a bloody mess, maybe not for all tourists but for us who work and live here it can be a problem.

Hi guys,
there was another forum link on the water and it provided links to the local papers with comments on what was going wrong and what they were trying to do about it.
The message I got was that there has not been enough rain in Cyprus for some time so the supplies are desperate and people should respect the water supply by having showers rather than baths, brushing teeth using a cup of water even to the extent of reducing flushes to a minimum. Wow, sounds like the UK a short time ago.
The drinking water is usually bought in bottles so that should be OK.
Anyone recently stayed at the Marina Complex in the Universal area of Paphos and know what the water supply is like?

Have read on a news site this morning (can%26#39;t remember which one but it was on the web) that tankers have arrived from Greece and that the plan is to use water from these for daily needs and any excess will go into the reservoirs....the mind boggles as to how they will do this but it did sound a bit more promising than things have sounded in the last few weeks. Fingers crossed!!
