Can Anyone fill me in re average costs of buying food Larnica as will be staying on a self catering basis and am concerned how much it will cost me for buying food on a daily basis? For example, milk, bread, cheese, ham etc.
Can anyone recommend places that they have found reasonable for buying foodstuffs?

Hi An-IrishRover
I%26#39;m off to Larnaca next week and will be back in mid June . If that time scale helps I%26#39;ll post some stuff when I come back.
Now I%26#39;ve been going to Larnaca for years but still haven%26#39;t got the hang of all the street names. however, there are two easy find big supermarkets in town.
Carrefour are on the road that leads away from the port on the way out to Ayia Napa. They are reasonable and if you%26#39;re doing self catering they do have a take away section at the back of the stare which we find OK.
Over the road from Carrefour there%26#39;s a very good fruit and veg market. Even the cheap bags outside have some good seasonal fruit bargains if you%26#39;ve got time to look.
Orphanides is further up the road on the way out to Limassol. It%26#39;s an older place and everything seems narrower, but it%26#39;s always been reasonable.
Taxis will get you to either, but I%26#39;m not sure about costs.
Have a good trip!

Haven%26#39;t given a price for water from supermarkets. There%26#39;s a water shortage and we had drinking water every other day. Best trick is to find out if there%26#39;s a large water container in your apartment. If so find one of the roadside water machines. One on Dhekalia road just after the dual carriageway sells 5 litres for 50 cents. You can buy smaller amounts too! May even be worth checking s%26#39;mkt prices for containers as that sort of stuff is often cheaper in Cyprus than UK.
Left the worst till last !!!!!!!
OK Petrol is shooting up everywhere. When we arrived it was 1.08 per litre and had risen 10 cents during our stay! Happy motoring!!
Hope I%26#39;ve got this through before you leave, and I have thought of a good line to leave on
We hardly saw a cloud in three weeks!

I think caneable answered all your questions. I think that the prices are close to the EU average. Taxi is expensive. I believe that if you use 2 times a day a taxi is better for you to rent a car. All the supermarkets have small variation on their prices but the one caneable told you might have the kind of better prices.
