Karpas Peninsula

Clearly a %26quot;must do%26quot; although not much in the forums. Is a 4x4 the best bet?

a 4x4 is best if you want to take the rough roads down to some of the deserted beaches or to drive to the tip of the island.

We visited the Karpas in a trusty Ford Focus!! the roads are quite good, well mostly, right to the tip of the Karpas, in a 4x4 though with the roof down and the sun shining, wind in the hair it would only add to the experience, we visited the beach at Golden Sands, more donkeys than people!! there is some accomodation there, wooden chalet type buildings, looked ok for an overnight stay, the tip of the Karpas is quite a trek from Kyrenia, it makes for a long day, or stay over,sit on a deserted beach, sipping along cool drinks and watch the sun go down.............................................
