Prices

What are prices like in Nothern Cyprus, how do they compare with mainland Turkey ?

For instance how much is a soft drink, a beer or an average meal with starter main course and sweet ?

I have been told that Cyprus is expensive but dont know if that is just the Greek side or not.

We have just returned from 3 weeks in North Cyprus about our 10th visit in 8 years. This year we really noticed a rise in prices everywhere there compared to previous years.

Beer on average is about 5ytl (£2 ) Gordons Gin and tonic 12 ytl (£5) (the local gin is cheaper)

Can of soft drink is 4 ytl (£1.60)

Meal for 2 on average about 85 ytl (£36) without drinks.

If you intend hiring a car petrol prices have risen considerably like everywhere else.

I%26#39;m not quite sure where the previous poster was staying, maybe central Kyrenia, but most local bar prices are cheaper. Draft beer 3ytl, bottles 4ytl, import spirit and mixer 8ytl, local spirit and mixer 6ytl, canned drinks 3ytl.

I would expect to pay approx 50ytl for meal for two plus drinks. You can get much cheaper and much more expensive depending on where you go. If you stick to the local restaurants you should expect to pay 15-20ytl for a main course. Very often meze, fruit, coffee and brandy are included in the price.

Wow those figures seem to be steep, I was in Northern Nicosia lately and I never saw those prices anywear. It is cheaper than the UK and southern Cyprus.

Please remember Greeks also live in Northern Cyprus.
