Paphos - plase help - frist time visit

Hi

I am planning to go to Paphos in July. We are probably renting apartment in Kato Paphos… They seem to say that the apartment is 10 minutes from shops and 10 minutes from the Paphos Harbour. Is this near town of Phahpos too?

They also state that nearest beach is 10 minutes walk. What is the best beach to go to?

And what are the food and drink prices over there, both in restaurants and supermarkets?

Thanks for your help

Just came back from paphos harbour, you can get a pint of local beer keo in a waterfront bar for 1 euro 50 cents, a pint of carlsberg or similar 3 euros. supermarkets litre and half of water 40 cents bottle of shweppes lemonade 2 euro 70 cents for 2 litre, food in restaurants looked reasonably priced but we didnt try as we were all inclusive.

Hi Sasa00.

Paphos has different districts, just as our towns do. There is the harbour area which is known as the new town or Kato Paphos. This is where you will find the majority of the tourist entertainment such as bars, restaurants and shops.

There is also another tourist area called the Tombs of the Kings area or TOTK. This is a road which leads out from Kato Paphos towards Coral Bay. There are bars and restaurants all along here to.

There is the old town, or Ktima which is where the business gets done. There isn%26#39;t really anything there for tourists apart from the market and some restaurants and shops.

Without knowing exactly where you are staying, it is difficult to say which of the beaches you are 10 minutes away from. There are a few beaches in the new town and the municipal beach is just off the TOTK road.

The best beach to visit in the area by far is the beach at Coral Bay. It is about 12kms away from Paphos but is easily reached by bus. There are the usual facilities (sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and bars) but be warned that the main beach gets VERY noisy in high season. There is another beach just further on from the main beach at Coral Bay called Corallia beach. This is far quieter.

As for the cost of things, I haven%26#39;t had my holiday yet so I have yet to experience first hand the price increases that everyone is reporting. However, I am banking on spending as much for a meal for 4 with drinks in a restaurant as I would spend here in the UK.
