Planning to visit this August. I believe that the site is very exposed with no shade. Does any one know what time the Tombs open? Getting there early seems a good idea. Many thanks.

i have just read a review that someone has left of tomb of the kings on another site, and they say if u go sunday its free!
Worth knowing, as we are going to paphos for 2 wks in june.
hope this saves you all a few quid anyway

The Roman Mosaics and amphitheatre which are near the harbour in Paphos were free entry on Sundays - however not sure this applies to the Tomb of the Kings site which is just a bit further out of the town on the way to Cora Bay. Of the two sites the Mosaics are a much better deal- the tombs are not that interesting -sorry!

went to Tomb of the Kings in May. Went about 3 in afternoon and it was really hot walking from one tomb to another, guy really nice on gate, might be free on Sundays but only 1 euro to get in so won%26#39;t break the bank was quite interesting but you need to find out a bit about it before you go or go on a tour or it won%26#39;t make much sense

All the sites of Antiquity in Paphos are worth a visit, even the little known sites dotted about.
Just beaware of the temperatures, especially in August, visit before 10am or after 4pm to really enjoy the experience.
If you are walking around betwenn 12 - 3 then you will just want to get out of there and head for the pool.
I am sure you will enjoy the trip.

Tombs are fascinating, when you think of when they were dug out and how long it must have taken , then you are in awe. Take a torch , to see inside the lower ones. We went last week - and yes it is hot and nowhere really to shelter except the trees.
Take timeout to visit the Archeological museum, it is on the Griva Digeni road that leads from Ktima out of town. Only 1.70 eu and had loads of finds from both the tombs and the villas where the mosaics are. Fascinating,it`s not far to walk from by the Town Hall.
In fact I think the top end of Ktima around the market and town hall area is much nicer than the harbour, loads of winding streets, it was the Turkish area. There are a row of cafes that over look the sea, from really high up, but be carefull , some are very pricey.
Ask for the menu first, and then make sure you get the receipt. I think we were charged too much, but couldn`t be bothered making a fuss, just didn`t go there again.
Fliipin eck, you only asked about the Tombs !!!!

As stated both are free on Sundays, in August try going mornings or late afternoons
