Cyprus in August

Hi,

Looking to go to the Med in August.

Not sure on a destination but have been looking at Cyprus.

Want a holiday to unwind and relax and also have a couple of things to see and do.

Not really sure where in Cyprus to go, so any suggestions?

Is the weather bearable in Cyprus at that time.

If not Cyprus, where else would you reccommend?

im going in 3 weeks , ive already been once before in october last year, ive been told by a few it is boiling, my mam and dad went years ago, 13 infact and they went in august and it was 140, my mam was sweating like you dont know, just walkng from one peice of shade to the other, i hope i can stand it, also my kids who are 13 and 10.Crete is really nice , will also be hot aswell, majorca, not as hot, but still in the 90,s, halkidiki, oh and rhodes.Rhodes town is lovely, i felt so at peace when i was there, the towm has a old fortress and a castle of the nights of saint john, very interesting, and then theres lindos in rhodes, beautifull beach with shallow water, warm as well.to me rhodes is the best, next florida, there are lots of shops and restaurants to look around and it has ots history, the harbour in rhodes town is good, you can see all the massive cruise ships. want to more let me know.

Well, I have to admit that I have never been to Cyprus in August and experienced 140 degrees! However, I spent the whole of August working in Cyprus a couple of years ago and it was the hottest I have ever known with temperatures in the mid 30s every day.

The swimming pool was as warm as bath water, the air con cooled you down indoors but as soon as you stepped outside the sweat would just pump out of you.

My husband and son came out to have a holiday with me for a week and didn%26#39;t even notice that it was so hot because they were just lounging around in the pool all day.

I would recommend Cyprus but, if you haven%26#39;t heard already, there are water shortages this year and, although hotels in the tourist areas have supposedly been guaranteed a plentiful supply, NOTHING is guaranteed in Cyprus and you may be unlucky when you get there.

I would hate your first visit to Cyprus to be a disappointment so why don%26#39;t you try it next year?

If today is anything to go by I think the pool is the best place.Limassol 38 today in the shade, I am now home in the mountains 7.52 pm and it is still 28.

Very hot for the time of year.

Maybe August will be cooler..

Hazey - there you go what? 140 degrees fahrenheit is SIXTY degrees celsius. Hot is hot but come on, you can%26#39;t just pluck numbers out of the air.

Hi,

Cyprus is hot in August, but it is also bearable. After all, if you%26#39;re on holiday, you don%26#39;t have to be rushing around (apologies for you guys who have to try and work in it!)

Paphos has more cultural sites and places of interest. Protaras / Pernera / Ayia Napa has the best beaches.

Which ever base you choose, you can take a trip into the mountains when you want to cool down.

Give it a try, it%26#39;s definitely worth it.

the really hot temp was 13 years ago in limassol when my dad and mum went,I have been told recently that some temps have been in the 50s, so why not the rest look what Egypt is like, dont forget being in cyprus is not the far away from turkey and egypt and they get unbearable temperatures. Some people cant stand that sort of heat, often it might say 38 but really it feels more like 45 etc with the humidity and it does make alot of difference, I will lokk out for any temperature gages when i go in 9 days time, I only hope its not so hot that I can stand it.Also my husband once went to corfu and august and he had temps of 140 so its more likely than you think.what one person can cope with another cant and thats where the difference comes in, some people just love boiling hot temps.
