We are getting married in Coral Bay next year. I think a lot of our guests may be staying in villas and booking flights on line.
I am putting together an info pack for our guests. What advise should i give them about covering themselves in case say their flights were cancelled or the villa firm went bust?
A travel agent put the wind up me by saying %26#39;ooh be careful if you don%26#39;t book with a bonded (???) agent - if they go out of business your guests won%26#39;t get their money back...%26#39;
My family have booked independently a few times and just got normal travel ins. We%26#39;ve never had any probs but i would hate my guests to lose out.
Do villa rental co%26#39;s have to belong to as association - like abta?
Sorry if this sounds daft!!!!

Hiya,
Private Villas are as they state - Private.
If you are concerned then a block booking into a hotel or self catering accommodation through a travel agent may be your best bet.
However, most private villa owners will not ask for no more than a deposit to secure a booking and the final payment would not be due till around 8 weeks prior to departure.
If the Villa is longer available, you may well loose your deposit but there are many private Villas in Cyprus ready to accommodate you and your guests at very short notice.
If you find a Villa you love then go for it!
If you want all your guests to be in one central location then block booking a hotel maybe an option. You may also get a diascount too!
Good Luck
Stewart

Even with bonded companies there is nothing to say that they will not go bust while you are there and you may have to pay again.
Last year Venus Villas went pop. It transpired that they hadn%26#39;t been paying the villa owners for use of their villas even though the guests has paid Venus Villas in advance of their holidays. As a result the villa owners would not allow the guests to stay in the villas until they paid them again directly.
Travel bonds do cover you for this kind of thing but you have to make a claim which doesn%26#39;t help when you are in resort with nowhere to stay.

Surely if everything is paid for on a credit card they cover you ?
