Building/Demolition work near Alexander the Great

Hi there,

Staying at Alexander in July. My family and i have always found the grassy sun bathing area immediately inland of the beach to be extremely pleasant allowing for a restful holiday.

Therefore it concerns me to read of demolition work going on adjacent to the Alex..hammer drills, jcb%26#39;s etc.,

My travel agent hasn%26#39;t mentioned anything about this and i was wondering if anyone has an update on this ...is it bad? ..did it spoil your holiday?

You know what i mean you look forward to a couple of weeks of rest/relaxation and you%26#39;ve got this to contend with.

Would appreciate any updates.

Thanks

The building work is on the right hand side of the Alexander next to the walkway/steps from the main road on the right, it is an addition to the hotel next door so I think if you are on the beach/grassy bit by the sea then you shouldn%26#39;t really hear it.

I went to the beach by the watersports next door and didn%26#39;t hear any noise.

Sorry to bump this one back up but I%26#39;m going there in 2 weeks and the thought of a week on a building site is making me nervous... anyone else been there recently?

Thanks for the other feedback by the way. I%26#39;ll give some feedback myself when I get back.... hopefully not covered in brickdust and with complimentary ear defenders!!

Hi,

I have also seen these comments, I am going on the 30th July on my honeymoon, so would love to hear from you on your return as I am really concerned.

Hope you have a great holiday and it is not too much noise.

Thanks

The Alexander The Great hotel- (Mr Fanos General Manager) have responded to me by saying that this work was the demolition of an old restaurant which they say has now been completed. Clearly something has also been built in this location as they go on to say that there is no noise only external painting work being done.....sounds better than originally thought.

The restaurant they are referring to is on the other side of the Alexander the Great, therefore there is building work currently taking place on both sides of the hotel.

Coach, bobmate, thanks for the replies I%26#39;ll post in a couple of weeks when we get back I%26#39;m sure a few cold beers in Evi%26#39;s bar will make any problems disappear!

Check out www.cyprus-mail.com/news/ Its the front cover of the Cyprus mail daily newspaper and it sheds some light on the current problems.

|||

Gulp!! going there next week ohhh dear, I%26#39;ll need to take a hard hat by the sound of things.

|||

Doesn%26#39;t sound too good does it? Were you not informed by your TO?

|||

This is extremely disappointing.

I have emailed both the Alexander and our tour operator requesting an immediate satisfactory response.

It seems to be the same old story...tour operators don%26#39;t want the expense of cancelling a holiday and the guests have an almighty argument with them/the hotel whilst on holiday and they end up paying compensation - well i don%26#39;t want compensation i want a restful and relaxing holiday that i%26#39;ve paid for- not a lot to ask for?...not very restful is it?

I%26#39;ll post response when i receive it.
