Paphos hotel, building works and activites?

Hi all,

My partner and I are off to Paphos in August very much looking forward to it we%26#39;re staying at the Pioneer hotel anyone stayed there????? we%26#39;re not ones for lying on the beaches even though we do! so if anyone can recomend any must do activites watersports, safaries would much appreate it, plus we%26#39;re heard from friends that there is a bit of building work going on in the harbour area anyone been there recently could give us the latest....

If you enjoy trips on holiday then you must do the Cairo day trip. It%26#39;s about £200 each but it%26#39;s a fantastic trip and includes

- flights

- coach travel and tour guide

- entrance to museum (see Tutankhamun%26#39;s teasures and his gold mask)

- Trip to the pyramids and Sphinx

- buffet lunch at 5 star hotel

- free time to explore the local market

- boat trip down the nile, entertainment and dinner.

I would also recommend the full day island cruise on The Star.

Hi,

We stayed at the pioneer last June, its a nice hotel adults only, the rooms are cleaned every day, bowl of fruit, robes and slippers, and pool towels supplied, need to be up early if you want a sunbed cos people put towels on a 6 a m in the morning (Brits) they go out for the morning, didn%26#39;t think much of the food, but there is a few restraunts just down the road. At the back of the hotel there is a path which leads right down to the harbour (roughly 40 mins walk minutes walk) there is water sports just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel on the beach.

If you go to the harbour there is cruises, speed boats,loads of things to do, depending on what you like, loads of places advertising trips to Troodos mountains etc.

hi tea23, you will not be short of things to do although it will be very hot in August. You can also go go-karting, the waterpark for a day - who need kids with them?- There are a few places that are renting beach buggies for driving up the arkamas trail, you could stop at Lara Bay for lunch. Paragliding is a fun activity you can do from Paphos, undersea walking also.

The Troodos Mountains are a nice day out in August as it is always slightly cooler.

The harbour reconstruction is almost complete although there are a few delays regarding lighting and seating but I am sure they will be completed by August.

We%26#39;ve just had a lovely week (our 12th visit) in Paphos. Besides the activites given by others, don%26#39;t forget to visit Tomb of the Kings. Also if you%26#39;re hiring a car a visit to Kourion is a must also to Latchi harbour, with several excellent fish tavernas on the waterfront and the drive there is quite lovely. You can also hire a speedboat and drive along the coast to uninhabited islands. A safari into the Troodos mountains or drive yourselves and stop off en-route at some excellent vineyards for some wine tasting. If you enjoy walking, there are hiking trails in both the Akamas and Troodos, although it will be hot!

There are plenty of watersports available either at Coral Bay (Blue Riband beach award) or the far end of Paphos by the Amathus hotel (although we thought them a bit pricey). There is lots to see and do around Paphos to keep you occupied, do try to be along the coastal road in a bar and enjoy the wonderful red sunsets.
