Paphos gone downmarket?

We went to Paphos about 6 years and enjoyed it, especially the good selection of restaurants and bars within a short walk. Someone who went their recently suggests it%26#39;s gone downmarket and that there%26#39;s a lot of chain eateries now such as KFC. Can anyone comment on whether this is true?

I%26#39;ve never yet eaten a KFC and there%26#39;s certainly no need to in Paphos where there%26#39;s a wealth of choices to eat from - 5 star dining or cheap or cheerful.

If you want fast food eats you can have them if you want up market or local good food places there are plenty of them as well.

Yes, it%26#39;s true, there are some fast food chains now.

Has it sent the place downmarket? I don%26#39;t know. I don%26#39;t think the introduction of new eating options sends a place downmarket. It%26#39;s people that do that.

The suggestion that KFC and McDonalds attract a down market clientele is not something I agree with. In fact, you will find that these places are usually frequented by Cypriots who enjoy treating their children to something they don%26#39;t have to eat every day. Just like the McDonalds and KFC in our town.

HI, yes there is a mac donalds and kfc, but thats all, we went last october and i thought phapos was nice, it still has the habour area and anyway they are located in the centre of the resort which is more like a small city, as it has debenhams etc in it. we went to rhodes a few years ago and they had a macdonalds aswell, but not in the walls of the old town, it was in what they call the new town where its all modern shops anyway, so i think they fit where they are, and for some families, that is a cheap option for eating, as the price for a family meal can be around £30 or more for the one meal.To me its good to have a variety of options for every buget,IVE been told that in SANTORINI for example it is very expensive, so that will probably stop alot of family,s going there.
