Hi, when we travel in september 08 I will have a little girl 2 and a half and a boy of 7 months. Will there be places there where we can buy nappies and baby milk? Also we are going to the laura beach and have heard its more or less out on a limb on its own is this true? and is the go karting far from there?

Hi elikopta
1st let me say that wherever you stay around Paphos you will have a fantastic time. You have picked a country but especially an area of it which has so much to offer a young family you will come back relaxed and booking again for next year!
We%26#39;ve just got back on Mon (BOOHOO!) %26amp; from what I remember your hotel is on the road leading to the Coral Bay area. All the way along this road there are small shops selling provisions and most will have some form of baby essentials. It%26#39;s a bit like our Lidl or Aldi. They may or may not have brands we recognise but most suffice and many do stock our well known brands. I can say for definite there is a big supermarket in the harbour area of Paphos (begins with P - maybe someone on this forum can come up with the name) opposite Debenhams which has every British brand you can think of. AND it%26#39;s a heck of a lot cheaper to get all your holiday supplies there. It%26#39;s just like Asda. It is VERY easy to find if you head to the harbour. We found the same named supermarket, I think in Tala, which may be quicker to get to if you have a car and map but a little tricky to find.
September is a fantastic time to travel there. The days are hot still but the evenings are gentler and if you do hire a car head up to the Kathikas area to watch the locals pick the grapes from the vines. Our youngest is 7 now but the 1st time we went(5 years ago) he played donkey spotting whilst we organised the picnic.
As for the go-karting? The only one I know( I%26#39;m not a local expert) is at the other side of Kato Paphos(New Town Paphos) virtually next to the Aphrodite waterpark. That may seem quite a distance when you haven%26#39;t seen a map, but by bus or car(and buses run all along this main Coral Bay 2 Paphos road) I would bet it takes 15mins. The waterpark has a fab area for little ones but is quite expensive. We paid about 80€ for 2ad %26amp; 2ch. I don%26#39;t think you would pay for your two but it is worth a day out if you are willing to take turns at %26#39;babywatching%26#39;.
The Cypriot people love children! Ours (when little) were often found folding napkins with waitresses whilst we ate our lunch in many little tavernas in the villages around Paphos.
I hope you have a fab hol and I%26#39;d love to hear how you get on.

The name of the supermarket Sara was fumbling for is Papantonious. You will get all your brands there for the little ones.
Yes, the Laura Beach hotel is on is own on the main road between Paphos and Coral Bay but it is on the bus route between the two and the buses are every 10 minutes or so back and forth to Paphos and Coral Bay so you can take your pick from the two resorts. The bus is cheap and you will only have to pay for the adults anyway.
As well as the go-karting near the water park there is another one at Coral Bay. If you head out on the main road and go past the Coral Bay turn-off, you will come to the go-karting track a little further down the road on the right hand side.

thank you both for your posts. i think we will just have to take enough nappies for the first few days then we can get our supplies there. Im not sure about the milk though. The brand has just changed from Farleys to Heinz nurture and i%26#39;ll be frightened they wont have the new one? Heres another one for you though..... how do you manage to make baby milk abroad do you just boil the bottled water? We are all inclusive so I dont even know if we will have facilites to sterilise and make bottles?

Hey, you are going to Cyprus. Friendly people, nothing too much trouble. Just take your kit with you, say please and Bob%26#39;s your uncle. You will not have a problem...and if you do I will nip down from Limassol to help you out...enjoy.

Aaaahhh leica - you are such a honey.
Really though, don%26#39;t worry about not being able to make up your bottles. We first took our daughter on holiday when she was about 5 months old and we sterilised and made up bottles just the same as we did at home.
Take sterilising tablets, a travel kettle and a large tupperware box with a lid. You can put your bottles, teats and dummies in the box to sterilise overnight (just read the instructions on the back of the packet of the tablets) and make your bottles up in the morning and keep them in the fridge in your room. As long as you use boiled, bottled water you will be OK.

We took the ready made stuff from home as by the time we went our baby was only drinking these occasionally!! For a 7 month old with a big appetite that could make for a very heavy suitcase. I do remember seeing the ready made stuff in the supermarkets too.
The local nappies were good as I had to buy one pack to last us the last few days because the 90 or so I had packed in the suitcase (yes I jest not!! had run out). They did have Pampers but I just bought their own brand which were much cheaper and just as good. My two are well past that now so much less clutter to take this time round....even managing not to take the pushchair this time...hurray!!!
Hope this helps

I remember when we took our daughter and family the youngest was 7 months at the time. We took one of those blow up play ring thingys with the toys attached. I don%26#39;t know the proper name but it came from ELC, and was invaluable for sitting/laying her in, so she didn%26#39;t bang her head on the hard floor. We had no trouble buying nappies and food, but took the baby%26#39;s regular milk with us.
