Hi,anyone going to the Sunrise Beach on the 13th July or has anyone contacted hotel in advance to request if it is possible to have sunbeds next to pool? and would like to hear any views on evening meals at hotel.

HI Nicola

We were at Sunrise Beach last week, and in previous years you could email the hotel and ask for sunbeds by the pool....

this year however, I emailed them and they said that sunbeds would be allocated on day of arrival by one of the pool attendants...

and so, when we arrived on the Monday morning, there were no sunbeds available by the pool, so we were put in the gardens to the other side of the kiddies pool, and told that we could be moved on ther Wednesday, however when Wednesday came, we decided we were fine where we were....we were literally about 10 second walk from pool...try not to get a bed in gardens next to Iliada Hotel side, cos that is a bit of a walk through the restaurant etc...

the evening meals were very nice and varied...they had various theme nights,Greek night, BBQ night, A la Carte night, and if you were there on a B %26amp; B basis, you could have evening meal for 22.50 Euros (which is the same as the £12CY they were charging last year)...they were also doing special offers again...pay for 4 meals and get 1 free....

Hope this helps....

It%26#39;s going to be wickedly hot in Mid July, it was 32 degrees at 10 in the morning when we were there!!

Hi Karen,

Can you please tell me the cost of fridge in bedroom, I have read that if you just have one item from fridge then it does not cost you anything to use it for your own drinks?

Would also like to know if there are plenty of sun shades around pool there three of us and would like 2 parasoles do you think we would have to pay for one?

Do you think we are best to exchange cash over there or get euros before travel?

How much is a beer in the hotel?

Can you recommend any nice trips and good restaurants?

What is the sea like for snorkelling?

Would be grateful for any help and advice this is our first trip to Cyprus. Many Thanks Nicola.

Hi Nicola

The fridges in the room cost 35 euros per week, we were told that they only charged us for 5 nights?? Its hard to equate cos when we went there last year it was in Cyprus pounds...but we have always had to pay for it...I don%26#39;t know anything about getting it free if you have something in it...they are very samll fridges (and to be honest, a bit old and tired looking)...you have take the shelf out just to fit a bottle of water in!! But they are a must as you need to keep your drinks cool...

They also charge us 12 euros for the safety deposit box...but this is worth it , I think.....

regarding the sun beds and parasol, the area is set up with 1 parasol between 2 beds, so I am not sure if you would get 2 unbrellas (they are fixed and not moveable)...but I reckon if you ask for 3 beds and tell them you need 2 umbrellas they will do that, no probs...

exchanging cash out there??...I would do some before you go and perhaps some when you get there...there were some places that were offering a slightly better rate than was on offer at home, but some were worse...but they don%26#39;t charge commission...they give a better rate for travellers cheques...it really depends Nicola and how much you intend to take...we took about 600 euros and our debit cards, which are accepted in most places....

some restaurants I can recommend are, Andamas,(up to main road turn right and its about 400 yrds on your left...) Oscars...up to main road, turn right and walk right down to end of road by McDonalds and its on your left...Diva....turn LEFT and walk right to end of road where there is the big bend in the road and its on the corner...bit pricey, but they do a fabulous steak which they flambe in fron tof you...Corner restaurant..directly opposite Divas, on the corner.....Romeos....half way upto Divas just before big Chinese restaurant...they do the whole greek plate throwing thing on Sundays and Thursdays....

I wouldn%26#39;t recommend the Chinese, as it is overpriced, very small portions and very rude/indifferent staff....

Trips???%26gt;.....Not sure, cos we only go for a week, and we only sunbathe....but if you wanna hire a car...Paphos for the day is nice....Nicosia has the border (Protected by the UN staff) and lots of shops....Troodos mountains are a nice trip, but you%26#39;d need a hire car...although I%26#39;m sure your holiday rep will offer all these trips...

I%26#39;ve got writers cramp now, so hope that all suffices, but if you need any more info, then don%26#39;t hesitate to contact me....

I used to live in Nottm...where about do you hail from???

This is our third year in Protarus but our first time at the Sunrise and looking at the reviews, I cant wait!

Would recommend Promises Restaurant if you fancy having a meal away from the hotel - they do the best steak ever!

Is this your first time in Protarus?

A family friend is there at the moment and claims that its 42 degress, therefore I will be easy to spot - I%26#39;ll be the small blonde with prickly heat and a patchy suntan! LOL
