Anyone share my frustration trying to book flights

In this economic climate obviously everyone needs to get the best bargain possible with flights to Cyprus. I always try to fly with Cyprus Airlines but at the moment they are only offering one night flight on the day I%26#39;m looking for.

Does anyone else experience the frustration and annoyance after trawling round the websites of individual airlines, to be given a decent base price only to find by the time you proceed to checkout that the price has rocketed not only because of taxes which I suppose are inevitable because you dare to want to take baggage with you and to have a seat next to your fellow traveller. Grrr!

I know where you are coming from. I too am a Cyprus Airways fan, to be honest I just book them now. By the time I have trawled and phoned I genrally find there is never much in the price.

Go on the night flight, at least you will get there, and in reasonable comfort.

Kath, heaven forbid you want a bite to eat too or a bit of extra space to stretch your legs.

The meanest, mealy mouthed airline I have encountered yet is Thomas Cook. They have taken over MyTravel and their flying routes and we are going to Vegas with them later this year.

Not only do they charge you per person, per bag, per leg of your trip but they only allow you 15kgs per person. You can make it up to the standard 20kgs that every other airline allows for the princely sum of £12.50 per person, per bag, per leg which would have bumped up the price of our tickets by £50!!!

On principle I will not pay for the extra 5kgs so hubby and I will be the couple on the plane wearing every item of clothing that we need for our week long holiday!

Good for you Karen. Seriously I am sick and tired of airlines getting away with this - surely its not unreasonable to expect them to just give us a once and for all price at the start of the booking process and not offer us £89 one way and £85 back only to find the total cost arrives at £520!!

I%26#39;ll stick with Cyprus Airlines.

try travel republic.

Looking at Greece for next year and finding that most airlines are dropping down to the 15kg allowance for luggage and then charging a supplement. I think its going to become the norm.

I believe new legislation is due to start sometime next year whereby all airlines are going to have to show the full asking price at the start of the booking process. Should save a lot of time and frustration if you can see at first glance what the total price is.

After a great deal of patience (which I don%26#39;t generally possess) and looking at various websites on a daily basis I have now managed to get tickets to Larnaca for £235 with Cyprus Airlines which is cheaper than anything else I have found. The beauty with Cyprus Airlines is the price you pay includes seats together, meals, drinks and 25k luggage unlike some of the budget or other airlines who believe it is their divine right to charge you extra for the liberty of taking a suitcase and wanting to sit with your family. Cyprus Airlines as far as I am concerned are the only really decent carrier to Cyprus and I thoroughly object to being offered what looks to be a bargain price only to find at the end of the booking process the end result is nothing like the original price offered.

The whole airline industry wants shaking up.

Glad you%26#39;ve got your flights sorted Kath, but just a word of warning to anyone trying to book flights to Paphos with Cyprus Airlines.

I%26#39;m looking for Monday flights next May and although I%26#39;m clearly highlighting Paphos and Paphos flights are displayed, by about page 3 it changes to Larnaca flights. I remember someone a while ago on here saying they somehow managed to mess up their booking - think it may have been Robbersdog.

Has anyone else experienced this with Cyprus Airlines website?

You do have to look very carefully at the Cyprus Airways schedules. Some of the Paphos flights connect to Larnaca while others terminate at Paphos. Just make sure that you only book to Paphos.

If you are booking to Larnaca there is more chance of you cocking your booking up by only booking to Paphos.

|||

The only flights I can find terminating in Paphos are on Wednesday and Saturday - not what I want. The Paphos schedules for other days state %26#39;indicates alternate city%26#39; and shows the destination/departure being Larnaca. It doesn%26#39;t state that there%26#39;s a stop at Paphos, but is this the case do you think? Very confusing.

Cyprus Airways website does seem to be a bit hit and miss at the moment. Booking my flights yesterday I indicated I wanted a direct flight into Larnaca - instead I got a one stop flight calling at Paphos. Tried again and indicated a one stop call at Paphos and got a direct flight to Larnaca. Most confusing. I booked my flight early morning - just did a double check later in the afternoon and found the price had increased by £70.00. Flight times are up the wall as well. I always try to travel on a Wednesday 14.20 out of Manchester. Cyprus Airlines have nothing other than an 11.00pm flight. When I rang to query this there answer was %26quot;we are changing our schedules in October%26quot; and that is the only flight time we will be doing - bizarre.
