ANGIE

|||

Have stayed at the silver sand twice because it was so cheap compared to other hotels and the location is really good, you are on the beach and also on the strip , so no need for lots of walking, it%26#39;s not the most modern of hotels but its clean and the staff were always nice, having said that I was told by a friend that they r doing it all up this year so may be you will end up with a lovely new looking hotel, I have had lovely hoildays in cyprus , im sure u will as well.

|||

HiLewis%26quot;s Mum did hear about work going on ,travel agent not informed us yet so hope it cant be much.We been to cyprus 4 times limassol paphos %26amp; protaras twice but not stayed this part ,is it on Fig Tree bay thanks

getting a maid in Limassol

Hi there:-)

anyone know what a maid costs in Limassol?

Full time?

Part time?

Does the process take long and is it a common practice?

Thanks again:-)

|||

It is common practice for middle income Cypriots to have maids in Limassol. Unfortunately not all are paid well or treated with a great deal of respect.

As for prices, it fluctuates from person to person and is dependant on who is employing them.

I will not give you a price as I feel maids and foreign domestic helpers in Cyprus are poorly treated

and have little say in what their employers pay them.

arriving in larnarca but staying in paphos

hello

we are flying out on the 5th of july but our flights lands at larnaca airport but we are staying in paphos we are a bit concerned how far away it is from each other we didnt relise the time of booking

could anyone tell me how long it will take to there

many thanks

|||

Roughly one and a half hours.It%26#39;s dual carrigeway all the way from Larnaca to Paphos. I suppose it%26#39;s to late to change your flight and arrive in Paphos?

Enjoy your holiday.

Reith.

|||

Hello,

Just read your post. I would double-check with your travel agent as we have been to Cyprus quite a few times and flights generally land at Paphos and then re-take off to take the rest of the passengers onto to Larnaca.

I might be wrong but thats been the case whenever we have gone to Paphos.

|||

I%26#39;d say easy an hour and a half, but its an easy drive! Not a lot of traffic on the motorway, nothing like the M25!

I%26#39;ve never ever been on a flight, thats stopped at paphos and then gone to larnaca, and i%26#39;ve flown there a few times too!

|||

we always fly into paphos and I%26#39;ve never known the flight to then head for Larnaca.

They always totally empty the aircraft of passengers and return to Manchester, and this applies to all the airlines we have flown with.

|||

My Wednesday flight with Cyprus Airways from Manchester does just that....Paphos first to kick us off and then onto Larnaca. It puzzled me because I was looking at flight arrivals into Manchester and could only see the Larnaca one with our flight code and time, so I was panicking a bit thinking I had booked the wrong flight.....checked it out and it does do Man Paphos Larnaca then the reverse on the way home.....doesn%26#39;t bother me as I%26#39;m getting off at Paphos!!!

|||

Some Cyprus Airways flights have been doing this for 8 years(from the UK). 30 minute stop, on to Larnaca and then back.

Prescrition drugs allowed in cyprus?

Is it ok to take pain kllers (I take tylex). I am on tylex for back pain and they contain codeine which is a banned substance in some countries. I am going to Cyprus in a week and want to know if ok there?

|||

I do not know the answer BUT - I too have back pain and NEVER travel anywhere without my pills - was in Cyprus for 2 weeks in June - no problems

Think Its places like Dubai that are strict

|||

You can%26#39;t take codine into Greace i had to change to other meds when i went on holiday last year, don%26#39;t know about cypress though !!!!

|||

Most of them yes, and in some cases you can buy over the counter in Cyprus at a fraction of the Uk prescription cost.

To be on the safe side, take your prescription with you, or a doctors note.

|||

are you sure about not being able to take codeine into greece, my mother is coming on holiday with us ans she has about 6 different types of tablets to take with her, for various things, i thought if you took your prescription there was no probem.

|||

Has anyone ever been asked or stopped re codeine - been taking it with us for years and question has never cropped up.

|||

Hi,

I only recently found out about the codeine / Greece thing %26amp; also wondered if anyone had been stopped. I carry co-codamol, presecription strength, wherever I go %26amp; haven%26#39;t had a problem anywhere, incl flying to %26amp; from Rhodes (1)Paphos (2) so would be interested in comments.

which beach is best? Honest replies wanted

Can anyone tell me which beach is biigest, the one at Four seasons Limassol or the one at Le Meridien. I like to sunbathe by the sea on a beach. Brochure shows a big beach at the Four seasons, but can%26#39;t see much about the size of the beach at the Lew Meridien.

Need to know before I book as this is will make my mind up about the which hotel

|||

Hi mintymo

You could also go to the best beach on the Island just outside Limassol just off the motorway to Paphos called Currium Beach, 7 miles long of sandy beach and sand going out untill your feet don%26#39;t touch the sea bed

kev

|||

Honest answer, the beaches in Limassol are rubbish.The sand is not golden but rather dark, not the cleanest and can be very busy in peak periods.

Curium beach, Ladies Mile are regarded as the best beaches in the Limassol area. They are both some distance from town.

If you just want to be near the sea and are not bothered about dark course sand and unkempt surroundings, the Four Seasons is the better of the two.

|||

I was wondering this as well. I%26#39;ll be in Limassol in a few weeks and saw photos of Ayia Napa, would that be too far of a journey to try to go to that beach for the day? What%26#39;s the best way to get there and how long would it take?

We are stopping here for the day on a cruise stop from 7 am to 5 pm and want to make it a beach day.

Let me know if I%26#39;m overshooting it.

|||

soccrspz,

I think you are overstretching a bit.Ayia Napa certainly has far better beaches but it will take at least 2 and a half to 3 hours each way leaving little time to enjoy yourself.Personally i would stick to Ladies Mile which would be less than half an hour by taxi from the harbour.There are ample Tavernas spread out along the beach which goes on for a good few miles and never over busy.

Check out your-limassol.com/limassol-things-to-do.php

|||

Limassol%26#39;s beaches are ok. Of course if you want to enjoy exceptional views and crystal clear waters you have to visit Agia Napa or Protaras. The trip from Limassol to Agia Napa will take no longer than 1:30 hours and I think is worthing it.

|||

How do you recommend getting there? bus or taxi, how much would each cost?

|||

I certainly would not expect to do the Ayia Napa trip in 90 minutes as its 107kms.With getting out of Limassol and skirting Larnaca you%26#39;d have to be going very very fast and hit no traffic.And the last thing you%26#39;d like to do is miss your departure from Limassol as Cruise Ships are not known for hanging around waiting for passengers.

|||

What would you recommend as the best beach to go to for the day, one that has the best overall atmosphere and water?

|||

If you%26#39;re talking about Limassol like i said earlier it%26#39;s gotta be Ladies Mile,very quiet though.If you%26#39;re talking about Ayia Napa go for Nissi Beach which is a lovely place with plenty of atmosphere and wonderful water.It%26#39;s totally your choice but i still think it might be a bit of a a trek there and back to get to Ayia Napa.If you do decide on Ayia Napa look at hiring a car for the day as it will be an awful lot cheaper than a taxi.And forget a bus as as far as i know if you could get one you would have to change in Larnaca.

Quick Question. Don%26#39;t the cruise company run any beach trips whilst you are in Cyprus?

|||

I have no clue, I%26#39;m going on Monarch Classic Cruises Blue Monarch ship and they have limited information on the excursions they have, I assume they will have more options once on board, but until then they only show tours of the island, we are going to so many places I was just wanting Cyprus to be a place to have a beach day.

Here%26#39;s the company and the itinerary, let me know if you have any other suggestions, and thank you for your help thus far.

Idiot Drivers in Paphos at Night

We%26#39;ve just returned from paphos and were totally sick of the young men driving up and down the main street at 70mph + speeds in their souped up cars with exhausts the size of dustbins. Someone is going to be killed and it will probably be an innocent tourist trying to cross the road. We haven%26#39;t got small children but if we did we would have stayed in at night.

Why aren%26#39;t the police dealing with these people ? I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;ll go back again, I%26#39;ve been 5 times but each time the crazy boy racers get worse. You cannot sit outside the restaurants without hearing the very loud exhausts or hoping they are not going to crash up the pavement into the restaurant. Sort this out Paphos police and government!or tourists will go elsewhere

Hi

The most important item in a cypriot car service is maintainence of the horn, day and night it never stops.

Hello Buster,

I take you have never been to Bedford.

It is much worse there. I would steer clear if were you.

Flippin%26#39; %26#39;eck - if I stayed in with my small children to avoid the boy racers in our town in the UK we would all be suffering from Vitamin D defficiency from the lack of daylight.

|||

Do Cypriots pass a driving test or do they just get in the car and teach themselves? we hired a car and motorbike while we were there and only just managed to escape with our lives in tact.

Hi Cherub77 nice to speak to another Chessie resident.

|||

A stones throw from tesco

|||

Not too far from my work then I work on Thompson St just off Sheffield Road.

|||

Hi Chesterfield people, how you doin.

|||

You want to live down South if you want boy racers! Got the M25 and M1 less than a mile from me, I love Chesterfield as my dad%26#39;s a Peak District Buxton pensioner, give me up north any day, you lucky bunch!

niss beach, info please?

whats it like in nissi beach and ayia napa, got an idea of ayia but none of nissi. We are staying in nissi beach and want to know is it good for families. as ayai napa will be heaving with clubbers on a night time.Is the beach big and how much do the beds n parasols cost per day, any info like that would be great thanks

|||

Hi,

I am going to Nissi Beach Hotel in 4wks time. We stayed in Protaras in oct last year and spent quite a bit of time at Nissi. Beach is amazing and clean and little fish swim about your feet. Water is warm and plenty places to snack of have a sit down meal. Beach is clean and my understanding is they have a bit of beach for residents and we should pay less but will certainly check when I am over. The beach has water sports at the little island bit you walk over to via the water which is shallow enough.

The Hotel is lovely and the gardens a truly beautiful so hope you enjoy yourself.

Hope this helps.

B2

|||

thanks, im going in 4 weeks on saturday, sounds nice hope its not too expensive to eat out as we are self catering, warm water sounds good, would i need to hire a car or not or is everything at hand.

|||

Hi,

Good to hear and you will certainly enjoy yourself but bad news is it is not by any means cheap. I have read a few who have been recommend the restaurant across the road called the garden which has good reviews. My friend has just returned from Ayia Napa area and recommended Los Banditos which is mexican but serves good food and Limelight I think it was called which does good mixed range of food. Also, Clarabels which is good for steaks and all child friendly.

Have a good time and enjoy your holiday.

B2

|||

Nissi beach can be loud with music playing, go a little further on th Macaronnis beach, which in my opinion beats Fig Tree and Nissi hands down

|||

Hi,

Can you reach this by walking along the beach or by road only?

B2

|||

I drove from Nissi, its only 2 mins, you could mistake this beach for the Caribeaan, not sure about walking. There is the Dome beach hotel and another hotel forgot its name behind Macaronnis. It is well signposted you cant miss it. I think a lot of people just settle for Nissi and dont know about the beach further on.

|||

Hi,

Thanks for this info. Somewhere different to go if Nissi is busy. I have heard of the Dome so will ask at the Hotel for directions.

Thanks again.

B2

Thought I would ask, how a far away is the water park from Nissi? Do we have to get a taxi there?

|||

Water park is only a couple of minutes from Nissi and the buses go right into the car park. Dome Beach Hotel is only just up from Nissi so you wont have any trouble finding it. The water park is a brill day out.

|||

Hi,

Good to know a bus takes you right there. We stayed at Protaras last year and got a taxi there to the water park. Will definately be back this year again as the children loved it. I found looking at them was scary enough so lazy river again for me.

Thanks again.

Have you been this year to Cyprus? If so, did you find a difference in costs for meals out etc?

B2

|||

Hi,

Not going this year, im off to Northumberland at the beginning of August staying at Wooler, ive never been before but plan on a visit Alnwick Castle. I am only back two weeks and off to Skiathos in Greece, i may visit Cyprus in 2009, but ive been so many times its nice to try somewhere different. We stayed in the Alva in Protaras last September. Any tips on Northumberland? I was looking at a day in Edinburgh but i think it is busy as they are having a tram system, correct me if im wrong. I think we can park at Berwick and catch the train.

Just Back from Cyprus

well

weather great 34 to 40 nice and warm. we stayed in the Nestor Hotel in Ayia nappa would recommend staff very good and rooms very clean.

Hired a car for 10 days 34 euro a day.

had a drive over to northern Cyprus and I was amazed how much history their was there and quite a bit cheaper to eat and drink, you pay 25 euros for the extra insurance and the crossing all very simple.

Ayia Nappa, everyone said is was a lot quieter than last year lots of brits had cancelled because of the euro. as for the prices.

well a pint of beer (local) anything from 2 euros upwards spirit with mixer from 4 euros. food four of us Adults Starters mains and drinks including wine around 100 euros a night.

exchanging cash we was getting 124 to 126 for sterling.

any questions please ask away

for me people are still very nice but the euro may price a lot of brits out of going.

regards

Tomtom

|||

tbh we have recently been to rhodes and those prices are comparable if not cheaper than there, we are in protaras in 2 weeks and i dont think it will be a lot dearer than pefkos and in fact cheaper then puerto pollensa in majorca was last year.

|||

thats good about ayia napa being a bit quieter,i hope itsnot going to cost us to much to eat, whats the average meal price in ayia napa, was there 4 adults or 2 ads and 2 kids,want to estimate how mush it will cost me for a meal out.Im surprised to hear that the prices in rhodes are comparible to cyprus, i went 4 years ago and thought the prices were ok depending on where you went, some of the drinks, like a kids cocktail was around 4 euros, so i surpose thats expensive for a glass full of juices.where did you get the car hire from and did you go to nicosia and is it interesting and what is there exactly.

|||

Hello

four adults 100 euros including drinks. thier are set menu%26#39;s from 10 to 16 euro starter meal desert. Kids half that.

Hired the car from one of the car hire places near the goldmine pub/resterant tried a few and played them off each other it was 34 euro for a vitara jeep.

Nicosia we visited both the north and south there is a 24 hr crossing now dont forget you passports.

had a nice meal and drinks for four in the northern side for 40 turkish (I think about £20.00 ish)

hope this helps

money exchange

We fly out to Paphos on Sunday could someone tell me what is the best to do exchange our money over here or when we get over there .We have changed a small amount over here so far and was just wondering to exchange any more or not . Also if we change it over there what is the best place to go for it. Any information would be helpful .

|||

Take enough euros with you for immediate use and change sterling in Cyprus. You need to shop around for the best exchange rate though.

|||

Hi Kath, Thanks we have changed enough to last a few days . We thought the exchange rate would be better in Cyprus . Thanks Anne

Sea front path from Protaras to Pernera

Have heard they are doing some work to the sea front path. Is it still open as love to walk along it esp to go the the kiosk half way for drinks and brekkie, we go on 24th August kids love to count the lizards and try to guess how many they%26#39;ll see before we get to the cafe.

Jo

|||

Work was started when I was there at the end of May -within 2 days they had widened and levelled the path and it may well have been completed now - certainly the owner of the little kiosk said it was all scheduled to be completed very quickly much to his irritation! I understand the eventual intention is to light the footway making it easier to walk along at night but whether that will be completed this season is anyones guess. Not really sure whether it was actually needed - the footpath was lovely to walk along as it was although a little precarious in the dark.

|||

Hi Kath thanks for that hope they haven%26#39;t took the character out of the path one of the fun things about walking along it was the up%26#39;s and downs, my kids loved running up and down the little hills and taking different paths to see who won, be nice to have lights though be a lovely walk at night didn%26#39;t ever fancy it in the dark.

Louis Phaethon Beach Club Hotel

Hi, I am having trouble in deciding on a hotel for a 1 week holiday at the end of June. Have heard that the Louis Phaethon Bech Club is a great 4*, but some reviews mention that it is far from the harbour. Are there any bars/club%26#39;s/restaurants near to the Phaethon, and also how far is it to the harbour? Im looking for a 4* hotel for me and my partner (both in our 20%26#39;s), close to the centre of Paphos, with bars etc nearby.

Ive also heard that the Paphian Bay is quite nice. Any info on either hotel would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

|||

hiya

we%26#39;ve been to the phaethon beach five years running and obviously love the place.

this hotel is about 10 mins bus ride from the main town but there is an area of shops and bars about half way betweeen the two, buses and taxis are very reasonable prices (or at least it was before they went euro). for the more energetic people it is quite a nice walk along one road so there%26#39;s no chance of getting lost, just watch out for the time share sellers.

i don%26#39;t know anything about paphian bay so i can%26#39;t help you there i%26#39;m afraid.

hope this helps.

|||

hiya

Jashy, thanks for your post.

How far is the Phaethon from the harbour? Ive heard its the last hotel on the way out of Paphos?

Are theres shops and bars reasonably close to the hotel (walking distance)?

Thanks again

|||

Hi,

yes it is the last hotel out of paphos and usually the first drop from airport (about 30 mins if that), therefore there is a little bit of aircraft noise but not enough to disturb you too much.

the nearest shopping area is about 15 min walk from hotel but there is the odd shop / supermarket on the way.

this shopping area has many shops, bars and restaurants but if you want the high life you may prefer paphos centre. you may find if you stay at the phaethon you will not need any restaurants, the food is out of this world (quality and variety)

hope this helps. thanks, jayne

|||

Jey Jashy

I%26#39;ve booked 2 weeks in Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel All Inclusive, is it far from harbour as me and my gf don%26#39;t mind walk, especially if there bar or 2 on way? Thanks Daz

Easyjet Flights

I am a bit bothered about flying with Easy Jet by some of the things which I have read because I have got walking difficulties and will need boarding assistance at Manchester and Paphos and it has never been a problem before, also we are normally on front seats with my daughter and grandson and are boarded first, this is all down on our invoice and a room reserved at the hotel which we are going to, I am going at the end of September for my 70th birthday but I just hope that we are not left as it says in one of the posts, I dont mean from checking in late but I have read somewhere that there was no plane and people were just left, if this is the case then I would have to get a taxi back home which is about 40 miles, can someone please give me some advice please, it wouldnt be so bad if I was fit.

|||

I can so understand your worry, and didn%26#39;t want to panic anyone flying with Easyjet. I just wanted to make everyone aware of how they deal with situations like a cancellation.

At the end of the day most of the EasyJet flights are fine and cancellations you would hope are few and far between. However you always want that back up that if things go wrong you will be looked after. With Easyjet this is certainly not the case. I spoke to man people in our hotel about problems they had with Easyjet, all on the Manchester route.

What worries me is that a company like them can turn round to 150 passengers in Manchester and say %26quot;you now have to make your own way to Paphos%26quot; and just walk away from the problem.

They then said and did the same to the 150 passengers in Paphos.

My mum had travelled 2 hours by airport taxi to Manchester yet they just didn%26#39;t care and said %26quot;well that isn%26#39;t our problem%26quot;. They also refused to put any passengers in hotels.

Now I am sure this is illegal, and would be interested to hear from anyone who was affected by the cancelled flight on Saturday 21st June. Easyjet could certainly be taken to the small claims court.

Customer Service is not Easyjets strong point.

Now you can argue that Easyjet are a low cost airline and you should expect this, however my mum went with Jet2 after this cancellation and found them brilliant.

All I can say is be prepared to be left to it should a problem occur.

|||

I was flying back from Paphos to Man on Sun 22, there were people who should have been going home on the Sat flight that was cancelled. They told me they had been accomodated in a hotel amd told to get back on the Sunday and they would try to get them on a flight then.

Due to our pre-booked Taxi failing to pick us up ( we had to get another ) when we got to the airport we were nearly last in the queue. One of the cancelled people , took great joy in telling everyone that it was first come - first served, so we were really worried that we might not get a seat.

It was chaotic and the check in desk was a war zone, they were trying to fit all passesngers between two flights out about 30 mins apart.

In the end we all got through after queuing for 90 mins, and it was literally 5 minutes from check-in, through security where a guy was telling us to Go Go Go to gate 5 NOW, straight on the plane.

After all that there were quite a few empty seats , but it`s not an experience I`d like to repeat.

When I went to work on Wed, a workmate told me some of her relations should have been flying from Man on the cancelled flight , about 12 for a wedding, can you imagine what they felt like. They had to go back home to North Wales and try again next day.

|||

Is your mum entitled to any compensation Yorkshire and Proud?

|||

Well all passengers were given a piece of paper stating what Easyjet must do in such a situation and from a legal stand point.

My mum showed me when she arrived and it does clearly state that if you are at the airport and the flight gets cancelled then the airline has to %26quot;TRY%26quot; and put you in a hotel, and find you a flight. My mum and none of the other passengers got any of that, apart from a lottery for the 10 spare seats the next days flight.

If the airline can%26#39;t put you up in a hotel and find you a flight then you are entitled to sort it yourself and then claim it back which takes time.

Like I said to my mum how does a family of 4 suddenly find the money to pay for another lot flights?

My mum has to pay £100 for a taxi to Leeds Bradford, £50 to stay in a hotel %26amp; £120 for a flight out with Jet2. I would hope she gets all this back along with some compensation, however think Easyjet will just give what they have to and no more.

I was told that although Easyjet found the Paphos passengers a hotel at the Azia, they had to pay and keep all receipts to claim the money back. I maybe wrong. Still it seems a shambles.

|||

I have an easyjet magazine from the plane and an article from the chief executive says they are open to your thoughts and ideas - andy@easyJet.com

Worth a moan I think!

|||

This is all very worrying and we are flying out from Manchester next Saturday with Easyjet. As the last person has given us an email address I have sent an email to Easyjet asking them to maybe comment on this forum and see if they can put all our minds at rest. We hve been going to Cyprus for 10 years and yes Paphos airport is not great but at least we have always got there and only once had a flight cancelled but we were put in a hotel overnight, we can only live in hope that we all get to Pahos with Easyjet....

|||

Don%26#39;t worry about it winker. This isn%26#39;t something that happens all the time. It is a one off incident and something that can happen to any airline at any time.

In Easyjet%26#39;s booking conditions they state that if a flight is cancelled for any reason that is down to them, each passenger will receive a refund plus compensation of 400 euros. It is not in their commercial interests to just cancel flights willy nilly.

hire a motorbike

can anyone please tell me how much it is to hire 125 yamaha dt and what i will need to take with me ,passport or driving licence??? im going 2nd of july and want to hire one for 2 days. PLEASE can anyone help thanks.

|||

I%26#39;d ere on the safe side and hire a car. My hubby hired similar for a day, he has 30 years experience, and he came off up Troodos mountains, he hit a small amount of gravel. Luckily he wasn%26#39;t badly injured but had a lot of gravel rash. He wished he%26#39;d never bothered as he had the bike too pay for to get fixed, 600E, as you are only insured 3rd party on bikes. It cost him 50e to hire from The Brothers in the strip at Protaras.

We hired a car for three days and it cost us 100E fully insured and a tank full of petrol.

|||

was that for one day 50 e to hire . i think i will give it a go for myself learn by my own mistakes cant help it just love bikes . thanks anyway.

|||

Not sure if this helps but to hire a 1500cc its was 50 euro for one day and 120 euro for three that was before you start to barter.

Tom

|||

I am another spoil sport - Check your travel insurance - mine does not cover dangerous sports - and motor bikes ! (incase you fall off )

|||

Read very carefully what you are signing if you hire a bike. Friends of mine are fanatical and very experienced motorcyclists (Harley Davidsons) and were eager to explore the island by bike. However the very tiny small print on the contract form made them completely liable not only for any damage to the bike but if the bike had to be off the road for any amount of time they would also be responsible for the owner%26#39;s loss of earnings involved whilst the bike was being repaired. They ripped the contract up and hired a car.

Just be aware and ensure you read carefully what you are signing. Its a lovely way to see the island but always wear a helmet and keep within the speed limit, instant fine if you are caught without helmet and speeding and the police are on constant lookout for tourists on bikes.

Proof of ID - you will need your driving licence and credit card and you will need to give details of your hotel and room number.

|||

Thank you all for being so caring but i just want to know how much it will be to hire a Yamaha DT 125 cc Ive been on bikes abroad before so i know all about small print and insurance , i just have not been to Cyprus before so i dont know what they charge to hire 125cc , thanks for all your responses to my first question , SOME ONE MUST KNOW THANKS. please reply :-)

|||

I looked on the internet

found a company called Cyprus rent-a - bike

why dont you look for them !!!?

and be careful !

Beach by Rising Star.

What is the beach like by these apts. Is it smooth entering the sea or will i need to wear beach shoes.

Is it suitable for snorkelling or is there a lot of water sports nearbye preventing this.

|||

You%26#39;ll need to walk along the beach a bit to get a clear spot.The Rising Star is situated at the very start of Flamingo beach and it%26#39;s very rocky there(probably ideal for snorkling) but starts to get clear and sandy further up.There is a clearing that has been made for what looks like is going to be a beach but I%26#39;m not sure if anything has been done yet.If you walk up to around the Constantinos the Great you%26#39;ll get a clear,stone free sea probably better a bit further along outside the Sunrise beach.

|||

Thanks for that. Is it far eg 5 mins, 10 mins??

Cazz.

|||

No not far,just a minute or so.

On another subject,if you turn left out of the apartments and follow the coast path for a couple of hundred yards you%26#39;ll come to small snack bar called Zafeiros Kiosk which does good breakfasts and meals and is in a lovely situation,great place to relax and look out across the Med.

|||

Dav, Zaffeiros is fantastic, they do great pancakes and banana splits. Thanks for the tip and the beach was good where you said but we didn%26#39;t bother much after all

Any Recommendations Please for elderley couple

Have never been to Cyprus and would love to go for a beach holiday. Can any body recommend somewhere for a couple which is close to the beach with nice views. Preferably with working air conditioning, pool and self catering. A good size balcony would be a bonus.

|||

What on earth is %26quot;elderly%26quot;

I am a retired person in my prime - most of the holidaymakers we saw in Cyprus were of a similar age !!

|||

Coral Bay suits us, it%26#39;s flat %26amp; has plenty of bars %26amp; restaurants without being noisy, it also has a good frequent bus service to paphos %26amp; what is arguably the best beaches on Cyprus.We hire A villa there but there are plenty of apartments %26amp; hotels. we stayed in Paphos for ten consecutive years but it got to commercialized for us. Check it out.

|||

The best beaches are on the south eastern side of the island, Protaras, Pernera %26amp; Ayia Napa. Difficult to recommend any one particular hotel but have a look at the recent reviews on TripAdvisor which should help you. You are as old as you feel!!

Cyprusliving.org

Recently joined this website, lasted a few days and now they have banned me. It is good for information but the minute you try to ineract with people they delete your threads. All I did was answer a topic asking for a hire car recommendation. The next thing some woman who wasnt even an administraor said I suggest you delete the link. The site has accepted payment from a firm to advertise so if your recommendations rival this firm they delete the thread.

I would browse this for info like i say, but if you try and express your own experiences they will gang up on you and shut you down.

Whats anyone elses experiences of this site?

|||

The same i%26#39;m afraid. Cyprus living can also run along the same lines. You need to find a site that does not earn money per click, or one with very little advertising.

Also don%26#39;t forget some of these forum members are based in the tourist industry and can paint a rosy picture to fill their own pockets at the expense of the gullible tourist.

|||

I find this site (tripadvisor) the best of the lot. To be honest I%26#39;m frightened to post on the others, there%26#39;s always someone who will jump down your throat. Not so judgemental on here!

|||

This is a safe bet. The only problem is you do not always get the real feel for the country. You need a forum that offers warts and all, but then you can get the personal attacks.

|||

People commented on the firm that advertises with them, and complained that you cant get a quote online. You had to contact them. These threads were also deleted. I think I%26#39;l stick to trip advisor in future who dont gag you and let people discuss things openly.

|||

Cyprusliving.org mainly ex pats full of their own self inflated importance. Same goes for some of the eastern cyprus forums - the ex pats have very little to do with their time other than to post meaningless trivia and see other contributors as %26quot;outsiders%26quot;. Stick with TripAdvisor.

|||

I see you are a fan also...

|||

No patience with the whinging ex pats or the insular drivel they discuss on their forums but I am nosey and can%26#39;t help having a peek now and again! I won%26#39;t direct you to one forum specifically but yesterday there was a moan from a new UK resident that Cyprus has cockroaches and insects and how does one get rid of them!! Say no more.

|||

I have yet to find a hot country that doesnt have insects, we take a mozzie machine and plent of insect repellent and a pen from Boots which takes the sting out but does smell a bit. I have never been bitten in Cyprus in all the times I have been but in Cuba I was bitten terrible. The Cypriot mozzies obviously dont like me, it could be because I like a drink or two. Avon Skin Dry Oil Spray is quite good, the Soft %26amp; Fresh , turquoise one. If we manage to get to Paphos with Easy Jet after all the trouble which people are encountering I will just be grateful for that, I am looking forward to it as I always do.

|||

I saw your post Ste and I think the backlash you suffered was completely uncalled for.

I don%26#39;t really understand what that forum is for if you are not allowed to suggest your own recommendations.

Although I have only really been lurking on there, I have noticed that there are some really obnoxious and opinionated people who just try to score points against each other all the time.

Like you, I have the occasional peep to see what%26#39;s going on but I much prefer it on here where there is no censorship regarding genuinely recommending services etc.

Have I seen you on there recently Kath?

|||

No, don%26#39;t go on any more - just poke my nose in and out because I can%26#39;t resist it - there are times when I want to put my tuppence worth in but I think I%26#39;d get barred!!

Kath

Karpas Peninsula

Clearly a %26quot;must do%26quot; although not much in the forums. Is a 4x4 the best bet?

|||

hi

a 4x4 is best if you want to take the rough roads down to some of the deserted beaches or to drive to the tip of the island.

|||

We visited the Karpas in a trusty Ford Focus!! the roads are quite good, well mostly, right to the tip of the Karpas, in a 4x4 though with the roof down and the sun shining, wind in the hair it would only add to the experience, we visited the beach at Golden Sands, more donkeys than people!! there is some accomodation there, wooden chalet type buildings, looked ok for an overnight stay, the tip of the Karpas is quite a trek from Kyrenia, it makes for a long day, or stay over,sit on a deserted beach, sipping along cool drinks and watch the sun go down.............................................

Drousia

Hi All,

Anyone know what the weather is like in Drousia around January time? I read that the Latchi Temp would be around 10-15 degrees C but Drousia is much higher. Was thinking of renting a villa to get away from it all. Also, is there any chance of snow in the high roads between Paphos and Latch/Polis?

Thanks.

|||

Not much difference in temp. Hit and miss in January, if you are lucky you may see 66-68. As for snow, there is always a chance, but it is not a regular occurence.

|||

Thanks for that Leica. I%26#39;m sure it will be warmer than my Scottish home anyway!

|||

We have friends who have a village house in Drousia. In the summer it is wonderful to go there to catch the cooler mountain breezes. We have actually been there and had a thundery shower while it has been cloudless on the coast.

Cost of food in Larnica anyone?

Can Anyone fill me in re average costs of buying food Larnica as will be staying on a self catering basis and am concerned how much it will cost me for buying food on a daily basis? For example, milk, bread, cheese, ham etc.

Can anyone recommend places that they have found reasonable for buying foodstuffs?

|||

Hi An-IrishRover

I%26#39;m off to Larnaca next week and will be back in mid June . If that time scale helps I%26#39;ll post some stuff when I come back.

Now I%26#39;ve been going to Larnaca for years but still haven%26#39;t got the hang of all the street names. however, there are two easy find big supermarkets in town.

Carrefour are on the road that leads away from the port on the way out to Ayia Napa. They are reasonable and if you%26#39;re doing self catering they do have a take away section at the back of the stare which we find OK.

Over the road from Carrefour there%26#39;s a very good fruit and veg market. Even the cheap bags outside have some good seasonal fruit bargains if you%26#39;ve got time to look.

Orphanides is further up the road on the way out to Limassol. It%26#39;s an older place and everything seems narrower, but it%26#39;s always been reasonable.

Taxis will get you to either, but I%26#39;m not sure about costs.

Have a good trip!

|||

Hi An-Irish Rover

We%26#39;re back and as promised here%26#39;s a run down of the sort of costs we paid. All foodstuff bought at Carrefour and fruit at the market opposite. All prices in Euros. Hope this helps someone!!!

Haven%26#39;t given a price for water from supermarkets. There%26#39;s a water shortage and we had drinking water every other day. Best trick is to find out if there%26#39;s a large water container in your apartment. If so find one of the roadside water machines. One on Dhekalia road just after the dual carriageway sells 5 litres for 50 cents. You can buy smaller amounts too! May even be worth checking s%26#39;mkt prices for containers as that sort of stuff is often cheaper in Cyprus than UK.

Left the worst till last !!!!!!!

OK Petrol is shooting up everywhere. When we arrived it was 1.08 per litre and had risen 10 cents during our stay! Happy motoring!!

Hope I%26#39;ve got this through before you leave, and I have thought of a good line to leave on

We hardly saw a cloud in three weeks!

|||

I think caneable answered all your questions. I think that the prices are close to the EU average. Taxi is expensive. I believe that if you use 2 times a day a taxi is better for you to rent a car. All the supermarkets have small variation on their prices but the one caneable told you might have the kind of better prices.

Paphos Town, Coral Bay, Kato Paphos - Im confused!

Hello,

I%26#39;ve been a in a few posts so you may have seen me on the board!

We have decided that Paphos is definately the place in Cyprus we want to go to (we%26#39;ve not been before) however, after trawling through what feels like every brochure and hotel website on the planet I%26#39;m a bit confused by what is considered %26#39;Paphos%26#39;.

Where do we want to be? What is a good location - we%26#39;d like to be able to walk to bars and restaurants as are planning on going B%26amp;B.

We keep finding nice hotels and then it says they are 6km from Paphos, but does this mean the town itself as I believe that this is slightly inland?

Also, I%26#39;m addicted to other peoples opinions on here and get put off very easily by bad comments - so I%26#39;d welcome your personal recommendation son nice hotels in a good location!

Thanks!

Helen x

|||

Hi Helen,

I came back from Cyprus in April and I too had trawled all the websites etc looking at resorts %26amp; self catering !

Paphos itself is a big big resort, the hotel area is massive and some of them are too far a walk from the harbour/bar/restaurant area.

However there is always a selection of bars %26amp; eateries around them, all depends how close to the beach you want to be, how lively a resort you want and what you want to pay..

We stayed at place called Coral Bay, roughly 20 minute drive/bus to Paphos centre.

Our self catering complex right on the beach was the Corrallia Beach Apartments, outside %26amp; a 5 minute walk a handful of restaurants, but a bus to Coral Bay town leaves the hotel every 10 minutes or you can walk it, there is then a strip of bars etc...

I have written a review on it if you%26#39;re interested.

But yes, a lot of the s/c resorts were a few kilometres out of Paphos.

Anything you want to know drop us a line :-)

|||

Helen

Kato Paphos is the newer tourist area near the promenade and harbour in Paphos. It is where a lot of the hotels are located. You are really in the thick of things here.

Another area is the Tombs of the Kings Road area. There are bars, restaurants and hotels in this area too.

Coral Bay is located approximately 12kms from Kato Paphos along the coastal road. There are hotels located all along this road. Some of the big ones that you see advertised are on this stretch. The problem with some of these hotels is that they are a bit isolated as they are neither in Paphos nor Coral Bay. However, there are usually a couple of restaurants and bars nearby and the bus runs past in both directions at regular intervals.

Finally, the Old Town is located slightly inland from Kato Paphos. The old town is not really a tourist area so you wont find hotels there.

If you are looking at hotels that are located 6kms from Paphos, I would suggest that these are probably located along the coastal road between Paphos and Coral Bay.

Finally, make sure you do plenty of research before taking someone%26#39;s bad report on board. It is a fact that people who have had a very bad experience or a very good experience are more likely to post a review or make a complaint/compliment. The vast majority of people will have had a satisfactory time and will not bother to post. If you see somewhere you like the look of, research it on all the travel portals and ask questions about the place specifically before making a decision. You will be surprised how many people will come out of the woodwork with an opinion.

|||

Helen

We like, the other poster, stayed at Corallia Beach in Coral Bay and found it great for our needs. We are due to return in four weeks time. It really depends on what you want and who you are travelling with....i,e, couple who want the nightlife then I would suggest Paphos rather than Coral Bay but if you want a relaxing holiday for 2 and not too bothered about discos etc then Coral Bay. Likewise we travel with two youngish children and find Coral Bay ideal for us....not too rowdy so the kids (and adults) can sleep at night!! My review is also on the review page but mine was done nearly three years ago so the more recent one as recommened by lilpiggy will be more accurate and up to date.

If you want more advice, just ask!

|||

hi we went to coral bay last october, and the resort is not bad, its quiet and had a handfull of restaurants, one thats really nice called poseidons, i think, its got horses on the wall inside.you have a long walk to get the beach when staying in coral bay, we were at the end away from the beach beside the ascos, the beach is nice but we did find it expensive.there are a few shops , convenience stores there and there prices are not cheap at all, obe in particular with indians serving is very expensive, bottles of booze , biscuits etc etc.we hired a car and drove along to phaphos which is nicer as evrything is at hand and there are supermarkets that sell allsorts, much cheaper than the small stores in coral bay, the harbour is nice also,some places are pricey, a hot dog a one was around 6 cyrus pounds, terrible, but paphos is the better of the two, there is a markey in paphos, not that we ever found it, but would have liked to and there are boat trips etc all at hand and it just feels more greek, hope this helps you and doesnt put you off, imo i would favour paphos

|||

Hi Helen

holiday2cyprus.co.uk/paphos_hotels_map.htm

here%26#39;s a link showing the hotel locations in Kato Paphos. To give you some idea between 56 - 48 there are some very good hotels well served with good restaurants and bars in the area known locally as %26#39;the triangle%26#39; and easily walkable to the harbour area without being in the thick of it. Between 32 - 38 you%26#39;ll be spoilt for choice but it is extremeley busy with traffic noise (and Bar St). I don%26#39;t know much about the Tomb of the Kings area, but it%26#39;s walkable. Coral Bay area for me isn%26#39;t Paphos and you%26#39;d need a car or taxi to get about - there are buses but they get full in the evenings.

I%26#39;d suggest you look at the reviews to get a feel for the area along Poseidonos Avenue area to see if this suits your needs. I know you were thinking of the Aquamare and whilst nice you%26#39;ll notice it%26#39;s off that map. What I%26#39;d also advise is to consider the beach side properties, lovely landscaped gardens, free sunbeds/facilities which you would have to pay for if you fancied a change from the pool at an inland property.

Hope this helps.

|||

Hi Helen

If you have the map of the hotels just to give you some idea of distance. We have stayed at the Paphos Amathus Beach and the Elysium both on opposite sides of the harbour but both are within walking distance of the harbour (10 mins). There are lots of restaurants in and around the Amathus but not so many on the other side near the Elysium. There are lots of lovely hotels and apartments in Paphos. As someone else has pointed out Kato Paphos is the area of shops etc around the harbour. The old town is up the hill and inland. Otherwise it is really just one long road with a good bus service which goes all the way to Coral Bay.

Twigs

|||

WOW! Thank you for all your advice!

Whilst we are a young 30 (it%26#39;ll be my 30th the day before we go!) and 35 we don%26#39;t really %26#39;do%26#39; disco%26#39;s but we do like sitting in bars people watching and would like restaurants so I think that the Kato Paphos area sounds more like what were after.

If we were bringing the young one, my other halves daughter who%26#39;s 10 then maybe Coral Bay would be better for her.

I%26#39;ll be printing off all your replies and having a look at the map with the hotels on - I had found this myself but didn%26#39;t know which end was which!!

Thanks very much - I%26#39;ll let you know where we decide - it might be Hotel Aloe but there are so many mixed reviews!!

|||

Helen - The Aloe is in a super location in Kato Paphos. It is handy for the beach (there is one right across the road) and the harbour area. It is within walking distance of the aquapark too.

My parents stayed there earlier this year and all the rooms were being re-carpeted and refurbished.

|||

Hi

I%26#39;m also trying to find a nice hotel for myself %26amp; Gf, at the minute I%26#39;m torn between St George Gardens Hotel %26amp; Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel, can anyone advise me about them %26amp; their respective locations?

Worried! Water Shortages at Kefalos Beach Village?

Going to Kefalos on 9th July for 2 weeks. Our first time to Cyprus and have been really looking forward to it. However, the current water shortages are now starting to worry me. Can anyone advise how the Kefalos is dealing with the problem?

|||

Hi falcon9, you can email Kefalos Beach directly, PR manager%26#39;s name is Elena and her email addy is kefalos@kefalos.com.cy

Will you post a review of the place when you get back, I%26#39;m off there in August

Suzie

|||

Thanks for your reply. Will def be posting a review of Kefalos when I return. My parents stayed there last year and it is on their recommendation that we are going this year. The reviews are excellent so far! Really looking forward to it now.

|||

Hi there

Just come back from Kefalos Beach village and water isn%26#39;t an issue there, in fact if you go for astroll at 7.30-8.00am this is when they put the sprinklers on the grass area in between the pool and the sea.

Water is an issue on Cyprus at the moment but it does not seem to an issue with the hotels, the Elysium is nect door and they are using sprinklers aswell.

If you like a quiet relaxing hotel complex you will love this place.....

fuel charges at airport

has anyone been hit by fuel charges at the airport,friends of ours had to pay at the check in on the way to florida,we book and paid for r flights months ago before the fuel charges increased ,im worried incase they make us pay the extra at check in.is this likely

|||

I went to florida in april and although the fuel wasnt as bad as it is now, we didnt pay anything extra at the airport, all our fuel charges were payed up front and added to the price of the holiday when we booked, even then it was only ten pounds each.Im sure the holiday company would have to inform you weel in advance if anything like that was too happen.Your freinds didnt fly with one of the cheap flight companys by any chance.

beaches in Limassol ..

am off to Limassol for a holiday week after next, what are the beaches like there and which best to go to?

|||

hi there louise i have just come back from a week in limassol and i can tell you the beachs there are not what you would expect but they have 2 other beaches just on the outskirts of the town 1 called the ladys mile and the other 1 is goveners beach the are spectacular and there only a bus ride away have a great holiday

|||

Hi Louise18, i stayed in limassol about 4 years ago and i must admit i was not disappointed with the beaches, however i loved pissouri beach %26amp; nissi bay beach, these are a short drive along the coast.

If you hire a car you canfind plenty of other beaches around the coastal roads which are so beautiful.

i loved Cyprus and would definately go back again

have a lovely time

Curlylocksm

|||

Just thought i%26#39;d but in, sorry. Can anyone tell me is it easy to catch a bus to Ayia Napa? It%26#39;s just my husbands not that interested in hiring a car but i would love to go Nissi beach, i have been there before but not for 10 years.

|||

Hi moffatt,

Where will you be staying?

If you are in Pafos or Limassol, it will be difficult to get to Napa without a car. There is a bus that runs to Larnaca from Limassol then you would have to change onto the Napa bus.It could take the best part of a morning to get there.

Depending on where you are staying, it may be best to hire a car.

Louise

|||

Can someone point me in the right direction for Ladys Mile Beach and Governors Beach. I%26#39;ve only briefly visited Limassol on two occasions, mainly just passing through but intend to have a good look round this May. I have eaten at a sea front restaurant which has a resident pelican but the beach was all pebbles and stones and with a view of the dock. What is that called?

|||

Kath,resident pelican is at the top end of Lady%26#39;s mile.Down at the other end is all sand no pebbles.Govenors beach is the other way out of Limassol,5 miles opposite Pentakamo.Nice food at the first taverna,you can use the sunbeds on the lawn at no charge.

Louise18,the weather at the moment is not beach weather and the sea will be cold.I am afraid you will need a car to get to a decent beach,try Curium it is a lovely beach but I do not think the tavernas are open at the moment.

It%26#39;s up to the individual,there are no laws against topless,I think no lower area coverage might raise a few eyebrows,or attract a crowd.

|||

Hi louise18,

There is also Currium beach which has got to be the best in cyprus. 7 miles long %26amp; sand all the wat out untill your feet don%26#39;t touch the seabed

kev

|||

Thanks Leica, I%26#39;ve got my bearings now. Pelican frightened the wits out of me - he was sat outside his enclosure and I thought he was a stone ornament until I got my camera out!

footwear advice please

Hi,

This may sound trivial asking for this advice, but if i hadn%26#39;t seen a thread on the Albufeira forum before we went there on holiday last year, walking at night would have been a nightmare. The pavements in Albufeira are made up of tiny square tiles and the advice on the forum about taking wedge sandals for night time was fantastic. I like to make the effort at night and if i%26#39;d taken my normal strappy heels i would probably have broken my ankle as the pavements were treacherous and slippy to walk on.

Going to Paphos for the first time this year and i am just wondering if the same applies here?

Any advice welcome please.

Stekali

|||

Doc Martins are highly recommended. Just over a week ago I travelled about ten yards horizontally with a pair of flatties on, and still have the scabby forearms and knees that are just about healing.

Pavements are paving slabs, many broken, uneven or missing, so be careful.A broken arm or ankle will ruin your hols. Forget the fashion footwear, no-one looks at your feet anyway

|||

Hi

I always stick to flatties these days, even though it,s paved down by the harbour now I,ll stick to my flip flops.

Cyprus is the same as Spain and Portugal you see people with various injurys due to Pavements or lack of them.

|||

Oooh Stekali - I can just picture you in your strappy sundress and Doc Martens!!!

From what I have seen on photos, the new paving down on the harbour is in little cobbles or setts. I can imagine that stilettoes will not fare very well down there.

If I were you I would stick with the wedges.

|||

Go for comfort and safety, flatties or wedges. I badly sprained my ankle on the pavements of Ayia Napa many years ago, so have learnt the hard way!!!! As well as being not that wonderful some of the pavements have very high kerbs and the streetlighting isn%26#39;t always fab either. My stilettos will be staying at home!!

|||

Thanks for the advice, think i%26#39;ll be sticking to the wedges again this year then. How the hell i%26#39;m going to explain the 7 new pairs of shoes to the husband i%26#39;ll never know. Flatties aren%26#39;t an option for me unfortunatly, being 5%26#39;1 and on the curvy side, i need a least a bit of a heel.

Never mind, i%26#39;ll just let him think i%26#39;m doing my bit for the baggage allowance. Ha Ha.

the hideaway or bella view?

Hi

We are hoping to go to Kyrenia in July but we don%26#39;t know if to stay at the hideaway or the bella view. We want a really quiet holiday with good food. Any advice would be great, thanks.

|||

I haven%26#39;t stayed at either but think if you are looking for a quiet holiday then you should go for the Hideaway. It%26#39;s in a quiet location high in the hills with fantastic views of the coastline. The Bella View is near Bellapais but in quite a built up area just off the main road. Friends of mine have stayed at the Hideaway and say it was excellent. Very nice pool and restaurant area.

|||

Hi

We stayed at the hideaway 2 years ago and it was good, no children allowed so it is very peaceful, you are quite out of the way so a taxi or car hire is needed if you want to go anywhere else for dinner.

Hope this helps

Rebecca

|||

The Hideaway Club is already booked up for the season a few odd days here and there, but no full weeks,Is one of our most requested properties.

|||

bella view without a doubt - very luxurious and they look after you very well and the view is to die for. hideaway has a completely different atmosphere, different class of guest, louder and a little run down - not a bad place just different. go to the bella view you won%26#39;t be disappointed.

|||

Really quiet? Only one option if budget allows and if you can get in now. Bellapais Gardens. Hideaway was pretty noisy when we were there some years ago mainly due to the managements insistance that loud music should be played all day around the pool. Bellaview seems OK ( haven`t stayed but have looked round ) if you can get on with rather stiff atmosphere and formal, dark rooms.

Boat Trips

Hi has anyone got any info on boat trips from Kyrenia.

We usually holiday in Turkey and always enjoy the boat trips there, but have not seen any mention of boat trips on the Kyrenia forum.

|||

There are quite a few boat trips opertating from Kyrenia harbour on gulets - large and small. Most cruise one way or another along the coast, stopping at various places for snorkelling and water sports, serving lunch etc. There are also sunset cruises and dinner cruises. Very popular and a great day out.

Allie

|||

There are some contact numbers for boat trips here turkishcyprus.com/tourist-guide-entertainmen… but it is better to come and see the boats when you are here. They all charge roughly the same about £20 per person including lunch.

A very nice man called Michael from your neck of the woods sells trips for Blue Dolphin. You can find him at the far end of the harbour near the Tourist Info office (opposite end to the castle). They also have a catamaran that can be hired privately.

Child friendly top notch hotel

We are thinking about taking our 3yr old grandaughter to cypress in september and like very good quality hotels, can anyone reccomend a hotel which can please me and cater for a very active 3yr old,would be most gratfull, aka denise.

|||

Grecian Park Hotel. Very classy, with kids facilities.

|||

Depends what you what from your hol, how much, board basis. We normally stop at the Rising Star in Protaras which is directly on the beach, it%26#39;s self catering and has good entertainment and lovely pool we go again in august for 3rd time (it%26#39;s Self Catering), but we have booked to go to the Dome Beach in Nissi Bay for next year it%26#39;s a Thomas Cook property with good reviews and endless kids entertainment (it%26#39;s All Inclusive). Our kids are 9 and 6.

Jo

|||

Thanks Sue and Jo, i looked at the dome but would like bars and restaurants to be in walking disstance, i don%26#39;t mind self catering if there are decent resaurants and bars close by, many years ago we stayed at the Merridian Limmasol loved the hotel but not the area, will look into boty of your ideas, much appreciated, aka Denise

|||

The beach in front of the Dome hotel is better than Figtree, Konnos and Nissi, in my opinion.

Local Temperature

Hi

I visited Protaras in Aug several years ago and found the weather superb for that time of year.

I have decided this year to revisit Cyprus and have chosen the other side of the island and am staying in Polis.

I have been told that the weather this side of the island is a lot cooler...Is this the case and can any confirm ?

Thanks for any feedback.

|||

In August you may find it 2 or 3 degrees cooler.

|||

we were in Latchi last July and the weather was scorching...enjoyed it so much that we are off to Argaka this time, infact we go this Wednesday...if it%26#39;s cooler up that way it must be unbearable down the south of the island.

only one more day to work :-)
